Tony Blair’s performance this afternoon was superb. Brown looked decidedly uncomfortable. How can he follow it? Increasingly, he looks like he’s being screwed by the Blairs. The Labour Party will back Brown. A bolder Party would not. Their problem is that there is no one else with a credible claim for the crown. Political history has a tendency to repeat itself…

Well that’s a lie

Cherie left the auditorium and created tomorrow’s headlines. It must feel like an episode from ‘Neighbours from Hell’ for the Browns. The Chancellor will be anointed leader no doubt; however, have the last few weeks wounded him mortally before going into battle? – Can he be trusted? Is he a liar? Does he scheme with his fellow Scots? I suspect the British electorate (in particular, the English) will not forget.
