My Christmas Message

Posted on by Phillip Lee

We are now approaching the festive period of the year. The trees are up and decorated, the shops -despite a difficult economic climate – appear to be bursting full of presents and I cannot wait to spend Christmas day with my family.

Christmas remains a time, not only for children to enjoy themselves, but also for parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles to have a good time in each other’s company. There’s nothing more enjoyable than experiencing the happiness of our children talking about Santa Claus and what surprises he might bring on Christmas morning. And if truth be told, I think all of us have a bit of a child in us that enjoys, if not the shopping, then certainly the magnificent feasts on Christmas Day itself.

Christmas is also a time when we do more to help those less fortunate than ourselves. It is an occasion when we can take some time of our busy lives to give something back to our loved-ones, to spend time with a neighbour or provide some joy in the life of a lonely relative. The best Christmas present can often be as simple as some company or a kindly act.

My thoughts also go out to all those who cannot be with their loved-ones this year whether it is due to illness or distance. In particular I would like to send my best wishes to all those who have family members or friends in our armed forces. I salute our brave men in Afghanistan for the sacrifice they are making to keep us all safe.

I would also like to thank the many volunteers and organisations in Bracknell Constituency that work so hard all year long for the good of our community. I am very pleased to have such deserving and hard working individuals and groups in my constituency with people involved in some of the most selfless activities. Their work and participation in the local community is especially important at this time of year.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the great privilege of representing Bracknell Constituency in the House of Commons and I look forward to continuing my work for you all in the New Year. As always please don’t hesitate to get in touch if I can help you with any problems, address any issues or answer any questions, I’m always happy to help.

I would like to wish all my constituents a very Happy Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year.
