Success in Bracknell

October 19th, 2009

I am very pleased to report that on Saturday evening I was successful in being selected as the Conservative Party candidate for the Bracknell constituency at the next General Election. It is truly an honour to now be the PPC for such a fantastic constituency. My website is due for an update and hopefully by next month it will include features related to my up-coming campaign to become the next Member of Parliament for the Bracknell constituency.

In response to the blog on Women Only Short Lists for PPCs posted by John Maples on conservativehome.blog.com I posted the following: My wife and I attended the selection process for the PC in Bracknell last Saturday. There were four men and three women candidates. We had no preconceived feelings about the candidates (although I liked the achievements to date of Rory Stewart) and listened carefully to their speeches and the answers they gave to the questions. The first thing that struck us was the high calibre of all the candidates. After the candidates had made their pitches we compared notes and both agreed that three of the male candidates were in the top three positions and this was reflected in the subsequent voting, which almost exactly followed our thoughts. We were very pleased with the selection of Phillip Lee who will make an excellent MP. If we had only the women candidates to select from then we would have had to accept the fourth best(although still very able;which is surely not what any of us want.

Gavin in Southend here. Many congratulations on your selection and I hope you can go on to become the first Lee in parliament. Well Done, Gav.
