The Politics Show

April 11th, 2010

Today, I was invited to appear on the BBC’s ‘The Politics Show’. A candidate from each of the three main political parties was asked to appear. We all took questions from a group of ‘first time’ voters. Issues ranged from trust in politics through to the size of the public debt. Of particular interest to me was a question from a single mother. She described her own situation where the ‘system’ discouraged her from working even though she was eager to do so. This example of the so-called ‘welfare trap’ created by the present Labour government was yet another reminder of the great need for reform of the welfare service. If you missed the programme, it can be viewed here.
